What kind of potatoes should I use?

I personally prefer to use Yukon Gold potatoes or a 1 ½ pound bag of baby new potatoes. You can choose to use red potatoes or even a combination of any of these and still get great results.

Just make sure that the potatoes you use are all cut into similar sized pieces for the best cooking results.

Russet potatoes can be used but may result in a grainy or mushy texture when finished.

Can I use canned green beans?

Using canned green beans is not a good idea. Please don’t do this.

During the cooking process the canned green beans would break down far too much and create a mushy and unappetizing dish that no one will want to eat.

For the best results, I highly recommend sticking with fresh green beans.

Love your recipe, but I don't have a pressure cooker, so was wonder what be the timing to cook in a crock pot instead.

I was planning on making green beans with baby reds for dinner tonight and this recipe showed up on my FB feed. I think it was a sign to try something new! Looks and sounds delicious. One observation, though, in your instructions, Step 1. Probably should delete the last sentence since that is what you do in Step 7. Might be confusing for newbies. Can't wait for dinner!
