The Lamborghini Manifesto, a design study celebrating the 20th anniversary of Lamborghini Centro Stile, offers a tantalizing glimpse into the potential future of this legendary automaker's unique design language. According to Mitja Borkert, the company's design director, this concept car embodies "the potential future of our unique Design DNA."
The concept car features an evolution of Lamborghini's signature sharp-edged styling, with a familiar shark nose front end and distinctive Y-shaped lighting accents. One of its most striking features is the double-bubble glass roof, seamlessly blending into the rear, creating a sleek and futuristic silhouette. The massive diffuser and short rear fenders showcase the car's gigantic tires, giving it a powerful and dynamic presence.
But here's where it gets controversial: while the design study doesn't have doors and the all-glass greenhouse might seem far-fetched, Lamborghini has a history of pushing boundaries and setting trends. Underneath the aspirational styling, we find hints of production-worthy parts, such as the Fenomeno-inspired headlights and taillights. Borkert's statement, "We set the trends, we don't follow them. We must always look ahead, to next year and the next 20 years," leaves us wondering if these elements could make their way into future production models.
Lamborghini recently unveiled its new supercars, the Temerario and Revuelto, launched in 2023 and 2024 respectively. While these models are still fresh, the design studio has an exciting roadmap ahead, with limited-run and one-off models that could incorporate elements from the Manifesto concept. It's an exciting prospect, but will Lamborghini dare to integrate these bold design choices into its future production cars?
