Homemade Coffee Body Scrub Recipe
I’m not a coffee drinker (I prefer to start my day with a warm cup of this Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix Recipe), but I do absolutely love the smell of fresh ground coffee. There’s nothing quite like waking up in the morning to that smell!
When it comes to coffee, I’m the minority; I know many people just happen to be big fans of coffee. That makes this easy homemade Coffee Body Scrub such a great gift idea. With this body scrub, you can enjoy that amazing fresh smell of coffee in the morning before you even have your first cup.
Not only does this scrub smell amazing, it has some great benefits for your skin, too!
The caffeine in coffee (when applied topically) has been shown to dilate blood vessels, which will then tighten the outer tissues of the skin, helping with wrinkles and cellulite. Of course, caffeine is also very invigorating, so if you are looking for a new face scrub to wake you up in the morning, this coffee scrub might just be the way to go!

Ingredients in the Homemade Coffee Body Scrub
- 1/4 cup Coconut Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Grapeseed Oil
- A few drops Vitamin E Oil
- 1/4 cup ground Coffee Beans
- 1/4 cup Brown or White Sugar
Tip: If you need another use for it, my Homemade Healing Salve also uses grapeseed oil.
Step By Step Instructions for Making Homemade Coffee Body Scrubs
Begin by melting your coconut oil. You can do this on the stovetop if you wish or in the microwave in a glass container.
Once the coconut oil is melted (or mostly melted), add in the vitamin E oil and the grapeseed oil and stir together. I usually just add a few drops of vitamin E oil, a little goes a long way.

Add in your coffee grounds and sugar and mix well. If you feel like your mixture is too dry, you can add in a bit more grapeseed oil. If you feel like it is too wet, you can add a little bit more sugar. The dryness/wetness will vary depending on the coffee you use and how freshly ground it is.

Mix all of the ingredients together until there are no lumps of coffee or sugar remaining.

Place your scrub in some kind of jar or container.
I always have these 4 ounce Tin Containers on hand, they are perfect for so many DIY things (like this homemade Homemade Aftershave Lotion). Store the homemade coffee scrub in a cool, dark place until you are ready to use it.

Unlike some body scrubs, this is one you do not want to use in the shower; you don’t want the coffee grounds going down your drain. Coffee grounds don’t break down in water and can clump together and clog up your drain.
Instead, to use, scrub on and wipe off gently with a towel. Once you’ve gotten all of the grounds off, you can wipe off any remaining sugar or oils with a damp washcloth. You might not want to use a towel that you really care about because, depending on the kind you use, the coffee may stain them.
